Irene Chaffin Bates, 93, of Louisville, passed away March 28, 2015 at Signature Healthcare of East Louisville. She was born on August 22, 1921 in Corbin, Kentucky to the late Russ and Ada Sue Chaffin. She was a member of the Fern Creek Women’s Club and formerly of Beulah Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Ernest M. Bates Jr.
She is survived by her children, Sharon Ray (Ed), Larry Bates (Paula), Betsy Bates and Suzann Jean (Buddy); 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
A service to celebrate her life will be conducted Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Noon at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road with burial in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 2-8 on Wednesday at the funeral home.
