Imogene Thomas, 83 y.o., passed at her home on Saturday, October 1, 2022. Imogene, affectionately called Granny, moved to Louisville from Clinton, KY in the early 1970s to work in state government. After holding numerous positions, she eventually retired from the Department of Labor.
She was a graduate of West Kentucky Vocational School and the University of Louisville School of Business.
Imogene loved the Lord. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School and participating in numerous prayer calls until her health declined. In addition, Imogene loved volunteering at Good Will where she prepared students for their GED and of course, talked about Jesus the Christ. She was a member of Bates Memorial Baptist Church until she could no longer drive. As a result, she attended Community Hope Baptist Church with a friend and his family.
Imogene is preceded in death by her son, Barry Grant Thomas; her parents, Brainard and Adella Thomas; two brothers, George Willie and Brainard Thomas, Jr.; and a sister, Mildred Quinn.
She leaves to cherish her memories her daughters, Rev. Dr. Regena L. Thomas and Pamela J. Thomas; a granddaughter, Aerial J. Thomas; a grandson, Charles E. Barksdale; four great-grandchildren, Jaylen, Jorien, Jeremiah, and Jevaeh; two brothers, James H. and Virgil Thomas; a sister, Betty Ann Crisp; and a host of nieces and nephews; and friends.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Hosparus Health and the caregivers for their care and support.
The funeral service will be Saturday, October 8 at 10:00 a.m. at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY.
