An employee of the US Census Bureau in Jeffersonville since 1997 after his retirement from being a maintenance stores supervisor for Navistar International in Indianapolis where he had worked for fourteen years. He also worked as maintenance coordinator at the old International Harvester plant in Louisville for seventeen years. Herb served in the US Navy, including reserve duty, from 1964 to 1974. He was a graduate of St. Xavier High School and in 1963 from U of L Speed Scientific School.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary Ellen (McDermott).
Survivors include a daughter, Evala Rahm, and sons, Herbert Rahm III (Marylyn), John Rahm (Deborah), Edward Rahm (Jane), two sisters, Carole Rahm and Elaine Rahm; grandchildren, Kendrick Bailey, Dakota Bailey, Megan Rahm, Christine Rahm, Rylee Rahm, Eli Rahm, Olivia Rahm and Will Rahm. Herb is also survived by his special friend, Pamela Berry.
A celebration of Herb’s life funeral mass will be conducted at 11 am on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at Church of the Ascension, 4600 Lynnbrook Dr., with interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 2-8 pm on Monday, October 21, 2013 at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Rd.
