He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold A. and Bertha (Haag) Fow; and his wife of 65 years, Lois Carolyn (Watson) Fow.
Mr. Fow was a graduate of Male High School, a member of Highview Baptist Church and a World War II Army Veteran. He was in the grocery business all his life as co-owner of Fow’s Food Market in Germantown and a Convenient Food Mart in Fern Creek, as a meat salesman for Southern Star, Armour Star, and Marhoeffer, and finally as a longtime employee at Melton’s on Rockford Lane. Harold was a founding member of the Louisville Thoroughbred Chorus and sang for over 60 years in many barbershop quartets with the latest being “The Way Over Forty Four.”
He is survived by a brother, Norman Fow (Shirley) and sister, Shirley Eicher, both of Louisville; four children, Dave Fow (Dori) of Cincinnati, Kathy Hughes (Mike) of Oakland, Rick Fow (Diane) and Lisa Cease (Steve), both of Louisville; six grandchildren, David Fow (Courtney) of Paducah, Jonathan Hughes (Tia) and Karyn Herald (Kyle) of Bowling Green, Jameson Hughes (Kari), Eric Fow (Joy), and Nicholas Fow (Amanda) of Louisville; and eleven great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Aaden, Alex, and Avery Hughes, Nixon, Jackson, Carolina, Blakely, Chloe, and Maverick Fow, and Kynleigh Herald.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 3 pm at Evergreen Funeral Home with entombment at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 pm-8 pm and Thursday from 1 pm-3 pm at the funeral home.
