Hans was my best friend in high school and college. 

Hans and the whole Fiedler family enriched my life, and made a lasting and significant impact. When sharing some of our experiences with others; I’m told to write a book.
 
We found ourselves in trouble more than a few times with our folks, mostly mine. Hans had developed a code for Rodger Dearnaly or me to  know if my folks were listening in on our phone calls, a quiet (F*** Hover) would tip off to the other the fact the we were being listened to covertly by my folks. They never figured that out.

One piece of wisdom the Lord has given me is that He puts people in our path for a reason.
I am thankful He put Hans, his mother, father, and Kirk being put in my path.

I just came across this notice.  I have had little contact with colleagues since retiring from U of L 26 years ago.  Hans was a strong and reliable resource to me from lying on his back using his legs to lift a very heavy object to providing invaluable technical help to support research and teaching projects.  I could always count on him and considered him a friend as well as colleague.

Hans was a co-worker, and great friend. He had an incredible ability to dissect problems.  Moreover, he could see design issues from a unique perspective, and plan things accordingly.  I will miss him every day as a co-worker, but way more as a friend.  He was SUPER smart, and SUPER interesting. He has left a lasting impression on so many people!  This was evident at his event today.  Folks flew in from out of state, and others came to pay respects that had relatively very small direct interactions with him.  This is how his legacy will live on.  RIP Hans.  And sincere condolences to Terry, Kirk, Amber, and the grand babies!  Realize he loved all of you enormously, and would talk for hours about you.  He was a "one-of-a-kind" person that I am proud to say I knew for many years.  

Hans was always willing to help me and my department out over the years.  He would always answer the phone at all hours and be very willing to fix my issues.   He would always explain things so that I could understand why things were not working the way I wanted them to and then say this is what we need to do to achieve that.  I am going to miss him a lot.   I called him when I found out he was going to retire, I enjoyed talking to him about everything that wasn't work related.   He was a good man.

Hans was an amazing man, funny, wicked smart, so much fun to share stories with on the rare occasions I had to spend time in Louisville.  Our connection was dogs, dogs and dogs. He was larger than life and will be remembered and missed.  My condolences to Terry and the family.

As a coworker at UofL, my relationship with Hans was primarily work related. In that respect, Hans was a consummate professional. With the most minimal of tools, he could make magic happen with the network, at least in the eyes of those of us less skilled. At the personal level, he was always a joy to talk with and share stories. My heartbreak and prayers are with the family.

I met Hans in 1983 when I came to work at the University of Louisville in the IT computer department. He originally was in a lab in Strickler Hall. His knowledge and friendship put us into the same department eventually. He went on to become one of the greatest assets that U of L has ever had. The network he helped build and the friendships along the way will forever has his stamp on them. RIP Hans!

Hans was my dear brother, mentor and friend.   He has touched me in immeasurable ways, and his memory is forever etched in my heart and life.

To the family and friends of Hans Fiedler.   I worked with Hans at UofL.   It was a great honor to have an individual like Hans on our team.   He was always kind and helpful to anyone that needed his expertise.   I remember meeting Terri and his daughter in the office one day. It was apparent that he was a great husband and father.   I know he will be missed by many but especially his family and co-workers that interacted with him on a daily basis.   My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this time of great loss.   

I remember when me and ruby would be at you houses and would make us laugh and talk to us about anything and everything that you thought we would be interested in and you would help us if we need help with something 

I have known Hans since high school and have been close all these years. He was the best man at our wedding and I saw him just 2 weeks ago. My heart and prayers goes out to Terry and the rest of his family.   I will sincerely miss Hans, I loved him like a brother.
