Hallie Marie (Meyers) Calvert, 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Hospice of Southwest Ohio. Her kindness, resilience, and unwavering love touched the lives of many.
Born on June 6, 1939, in Carrollton, KY, Hallie found joy in caring for others, especially her loved ones and children. She had a passion for dancing (honky tonking), playing cards, socializing and collecting beanie babies. She held various roles throughout her life, including beautician, mail carrier, caregiver and what made her most proud was serving as a teacher’s aide, where she excelled in nurturing both her students and fellow educators. Later in life, she found solace in her faith, dedicating herself to serving God and those around her.
Hallie cherished family and close friends above all else. She is survived by her sister, Ina (Meyers) McClure of Louisville, KY; bonus sister, Ernestein (Calvert) Parrish of Louisville, KY; stepson, Frank Calvert (Mary) of Fairfield, OH; bonus son, Richard McClure of Louisville, KY; cousin, Bobby McClain of Frankfort, KY; grandchild, JD Harper of Louisville, KY; and step-grandchildren: Amanda Calvert (Pierre) of Mason, OH; Windi (Calvert) Sullivan of Lafayette, LA; Brendan Hopkins-Calvert of Fairfield, OH; Bradley Newby (Johnna) of Frankfort, KY; Karen (Newby) Tackett (Randy) of Lexington, KY; and John Newby (Michelle) of Frankfort, KY. Additionally, she leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, great-nieces, great-nephews, and her closest friends, whom she considered family.
Hallie was predeceased by her mother, Lura (Harlow) Meyers, and father, Everette Meyers; her husband, Sergeant Calvert; siblings: William “Denny” Meyers, Ernest Meyers, Mary Anne Meyers, and James Meyers; and her sons: James “Jimbo” Harper and Timothy “Timmy” Tyson. She also mourned the loss of her step-grandson, Shannon Calvert.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Hallie’s life at a memorial service on Friday, June 14, 2024, at Arch L. Heady Funeral Home (2428 Frankfort Ave, Louisville, KY 40206-2522). The viewing will be from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m., followed by services beginning at 11:30 a.m. The burial service will take place at 2:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Frankfort, KY.
