Born on January 3, 1931, in Straubing, Germany, Gertrude’s life was a rich tapestry woven with love of family, a passion for cooking and an insatiable appetite for reading. She bought warmth and thoughtfulness to every aspect of her life, enriching the lives of all who knew her.
Gertrude was the cherished daughter of Karl and Martha Hausler, both of whom predeceased her. Her spirit will be carried on by her devoted daughter, Marina Allgeier and her husband Jamie, her loving son, Michael Anderson, and a lineage of grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Craig (Kelly), Tyler, Austin (Kelsey), and the great-grandchildren, Colton, Russell, and Hallie, who brought immense joy to her later years.
As a dedicated housewife after moving to the United States from Germany, Gertrude transformed the arts of homemaking into a nurturing and creative endeavor. Her home was only a place of respite and comfort but also a crucible for the deep bonds she formed with her family and friends. Gertrud’s special touch and wisdom were evident in every meal she prepared, every book she recommended, and every piece of advice she imparted.
Those who knew Gertrude would described her as a thoughtful, passionate, and wise woman whose impact was as profound as it was understated. She lived a life full of purpose and joy, always placing her family at the center of the world. In her presence, one could not help but feel the genuine car and intention she put into every interaction.
Gertrude Eleanor Anderson’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and the countless lives shared around the family table. Her story is not just one of years, but of the countless lives she touched with her grace and kindness. While we mourn her passing, we also celebrate a life well lived- a testament to a woman whose presence was felt deeply and whose memory will to continue to inspire. Rest in peace, Gertrude; your light will continue to shine in the hearts of those who loved you.
A visitation for Gertrude will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40218.
