Georgia was from Shelbyville, Kentucky, but a former resident of Louisville. She worked at Semple Elementary School, where she touched children’s lives and made lasting friends. Georgia was a devout Baptist and member of Victory Memorial Baptist Church as well as a member of the Southern Star Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed cooking and her family and grandchildren, who in return loved her very deeply. Georgia was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, David C. Hodge, brothers: James Bingham and Leland Bingham, and one sister, Lois Poynter (Dean).
Left to cherish her memory is her daughters: Lisa Newton (Joe) and Stephanie Fields (Mike), five grandchildren: Jacob and Anna Newton, Lauren, Emily and Evan Fields, one brother, Arthur Bingham, Jr. (Charlene), two sister in laws, Marlene and Pat, as well as a host of nieces nephews and cousins.
A committal service will take place at 1 PM at Cumberland Memorial Garden (5970 Us-25, Corbin Kentucky 40701) in the mausoleum on Friday, October 6, 2023.
Visitation will be from 4 PM until 7 PM on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home (4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40218).
