George E. Carter, Sr., 84, of Louisville, passed away Monday, November 02, 2015 at his home. He was born August 6, 1931 in Jeffersonville, IN to the late, Clyde and Mary A. Carter. He was a Korean veteran of the U. S. Army, and was retired from Cement Local 694, where he had been a finisher and a business agent. He was a member of St. Leonard Catholic Church, where he volunteered for many years, and a member of the American Legion Shawnee Post 193.
Besides his parents he is also preceded in death by his brothers; Thomas and Raymond Edwards and James Carter, and his sister Betty Edwards.
He is survived by his four sons, George E. Carter, Jr., Kirk Anthony Carter (Janis), Christopher Wayne Carter (Karen), and William Shannon Carter, his grandchildren; Kim Roberts (Joe), Kraig Carter (Tara), Ashley Kennedy (Ross), Danielle Carter-Stollerman (Ben) and Christopher Carter, as well as his great-grandchildren; Hailey and Abbey Roberts, and Charlotte and Helen Kennedy.
A service to celebrate George’s life will be held at 10 am Friday, in the chapel of Arch L. Heady-Cralle, 2428 Frankfort Ave. with entombment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-8 pm.
