Brewer, George W., 86, of South Louisville passed from this life on Sunday April 15, 2012 at Baptist Hospital East. He retired after 40 years of service with the old L & N/CSX Railroad, a member of Carlisle Avenue Baptist Church, and a Navy veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Angela Sydnor. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, the former Edith Christine Collins; a son, John Brewer (Barbara); daughter, Brenda Sydnor (Randall); grandsons, Wesley Sydnor (Natasha) and Jason Sydnor; and two great grandchildren. A celebration of Mr. Brewer’s life will be held at 12 pm Thursday in the Southern Chapel of Arch L. Heady & Son, 3601 Taylor Blvd. with interment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 pm Wednesday.
