Gene Austin Winkler, 78, entered into rest on Thursday January 18, 2024. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Bert James and Alma (Austin) Winkler. Gene was a retired truck driver from Sun Trucking. He was a member of Summit Hill Baptist Church and a Navy Veteran. Gene enjoyed spending his time fishing, working in his shop, playing cards, gambling, going for drives, eating chocolate, and spending time with his family. He is survived by by his loving Wife, Brenda Winkler; Son, Jimmy Winkler (Tamra); Daughters, Leslie Dixon (Jeff), Rhonda Winkler (Bruce), Christy Weikert (Rob), Kelly Davison (Jay); Brothers, Bert and Lester Winkler; Sisters, Faye, Billie, Hilda, Sally, and Wanda; 16 Grandchildren and 25 Great Grandchildren; and a host of Nieces, Nephews, and extended family members that will also miss him! His Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 22 at 6pm at the Advantage Funeral Home - Hardy Chapel, with Cremation to follow. Visitation will be held on Monday after 11am until the time of the service at the funeral home.
