He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on December 7, 1946 to Mary (Elchesen) Toth and Joseph Toth, who have preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of forty years, Marcia (Snyder) Toth, his son, Kelly Toth (Darlene), two grandchildren, Nicole Solaire and Joe Toth, and sister-in-law, Carol Pahler (Dave).
Gary loved our country and was honored to serve for over twenty years combined service in the Army National Guard and the U.S. Navy. He retired as an IT Professional/Systems Engineer for the State of Kentucky in 2010. He worked briefly after retirement at QSR Automations.
He was a professional photographer, avid reader of history, talented guitarist and singer. He was a Civil War enthusiast and attended and photographed reenactments.
He was a member of Hikes Point Christian Church, the Ambassadors Class, the Louisville Emmaus & REC Communities, and the Phoenix Rising Photo Forum. He served in prison ministry for over twenty years, which was one of the biggest blessings of his life. Joshua 24:15 As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.
He was a follower of Jesus Christ and lived his life to honor and serve Him. James 1:12 Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God promised to those who love Him.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 4:00 P.M., at Hikes Point Christian Church, 2601 Hikes Lane, Louisville, KY 40218. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hikes Point Christian Church or Wounded Warrior Project.
