He was born in Corbin, Kentucky to the late Clarence and Veda Hopkins.
Gary proudly served his country in the United States Army, and retired from CSX Railroad. He was a member of Parkland Baptist Church, Civil War Round Table, and retired Railroad Club.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Jacqueline Hopkins, son, Jeffrey A. Hopkins, daughter, Lucinda Cole-Wolz, Stepsons, David Clark Jr. and Troy Powell (Stacey), stepdaughter, Tracie Adams (Gregg), brothers, Larry Gene Hopkins (Bonnie), Melvin Hopkins (Barbara Jean), and a host of many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and other family members and friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 10am until 1pm at Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home-Okolona. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1pm at the funeral home with a private burial at Resthaven Memorial Park.
