Eugene, known to many as “Gene” was born to John W. and Anna E. Sewell on April 3, 1933 in Louisville, Kentucky, the third of seven children.
Gene graduated from Dupont Manual High School, class of 1950½ and enlisted in to the US Army shortly afterwards serving as a FAFO in the Korean Conflict. After his military service he was employed by Shuler Axle Co. and eventually Eaton Corporation for 40 years.
Survivors include four sons, Gene Jr. (Jo), Brian S. (Rhonda), Bruce E. (Darlene) and Andrew K. Also surviving are 2 brothers, Elmer F. (Faye) and Harold W. (Sandra), sister-in-law, Ann Carlton. Fifteen grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren, along with several cousins, nieces and nephews survive.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 25 from 3pm till 7pm at Arch L Heady Funeral home, 7410 Westport Road. Funeral service will be Friday, January 26 at 12:30pm at Watkins United Methodist Church, 9800 Westport Road, with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
