A native of Spokane, WA, he served valiantly as a first lieutenant in World War II,
where he earned a Purple Heart at Normandy on D-Day. He went on to receive numerous medals for valor and
service. After the war, he earned an engineering degree at Washington State University and had a distinguished and
successful career as a chemical engineer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Carol Day; his sons, David Day (Vera), Paul Day (Janet) and Matthew Day (Kelly);
daughters, Anne Romanko (Kim) and Jessica Shadburne (Bill); and eight grandchildren.
