Emma Catherine Johnson

She was born in Louisville and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to cook, whether for family, for school lunchrooms, or at the English Grill. One of her proudest non-family accomplishments was earning “Employee of the Year” honors from The Brown Hotel, where she was in charge of the employees’ cafeteria.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and her husband of 64 years, Emil W. “Johnie” Johnson. Left to cherish her memory is her sister, Frances Waller; Children, John (Judy), Tom, Joe (Becky), Linda (Louie) Besse, Judy Olliges, Steve, and Nancy (John) Lahood; thirteen grandchildren, and twenty-one great grandchildren.

The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the staff of Westminster Terrace for their care and concern during Mom’s last years.

Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 25th, at 10am at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, with interment in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Friday, August 24th at the funeral home from 2-8pm.
