Came to an end last Friday morning.
We held her hands, the four she raised -
With a love stronger than death.
Like an ancient oak tree -
She sheltered and nourished us until the autumn,
Until the branches had fallen and the leaves were gone.
Some of us were undeserving; some of us were misunderstood -
But in our hearts a great light is extinguished -
Even as a bright star rises to heaven.
An overcomer,
She shall be crowned with life eternal.
She has risen to her great reward -
And will rise again.
76 years of silence and obscurity -
Reflected in a mirror darkly,
But soon face to face.
We celebrate and honor her memory.
The world was unworthy.
From now on will we love one another?
This giving tree has spread enduring roots.
She planted us;
We will grow to be strong -
While she rests.
