Edwin "Ed" L. Kalbfleisch, 94, of Louisville, passed on March 7, 2018. He was a US Marine during WWII with service in the Pacific Arena. He enjoyed playing Pinochle, and all forms of dancing with his beloved wife, Monnie. Ed had a great sense of humor, was fun-loving and committed to his family and friends. He was a devout Catholic and had been a member of St. Albert the Great and St. Martha’s Catholic Churches.
He was employed by L&N Railroad, and a member of American Legion Highland Post 201. Ed would be seen walking his neighborhood and was awarded The Pacesetter Award, for his exercise accomplishments.
Mr. Kalbfleisch was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Susan Monica, daughter, Sue Ellen (Ed) Brinley; brothers, Lawrence W. “Bill” Kalbfleisch, Jr., Douglas F. Kalbfleisch, Roy Hartman; sister, Gloria Miranda; and grandson, Walter Allen “AJ” Milton.
Ed is survived by his sons, Jim (Sherry), Gary, John (Dede), Kenny (Kathy), Brian (Beth) Kalbfleisch, 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A Life Celebration will be held on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at 6 p.m. at the Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Chapel, 4400 Bardstown Road, with a private entombment in Resthaven Memorial Park. A gathering of family and friends will be on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
