

Keown, Dorothy “Dottie” Dever, was born November 23, 1922 to James and Pearl Whitney in Seattle, Washington. She lived her younger years in Seattle and eventually Bremerton, Washington where she met her husband, Roy Dever. After Roy’s time in the United States Army as a radio technician, she followed him to Louisville where they married on October 4, 1944. She traveled around the country with Roy, a horse trainer, until their daughter Debbie was born.
Dottie was a very active and dedicated member of the Beechmont Woman’s Club. She was also an avid bowler with the Derby Fillies, at Ken Bowl, where she was a member of the 600 Club of Louisville. She also volunteered as a “Champion for Children” with JCPS. Dottie was baptized October 3, 1944 at Highland Park Christian Church. She continued her Christian life as a member at Southern Heights Christian Church and eventually Southeast Christian Church.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Debbie Dever Carter (Tom); grandson, Craig Carter (Jackie); granddaughter, Whitney Carter; and 2 great grandsons, Grayson and Kellan Carter.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday at 10am at Evergreen Funeral Home Dignity Chapel. Visitation will be Sunday from 2pm-8pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
Memorial donations in honor of Dottie may be directed to Hospice. Envelopes can be received at the funeral home.
