She is predeceased by her husband, John D. Mitchell and parents Elizabeth S. Maier and Frederick R. Maier.
She was born in New Jersey but lived most of her adult life in Louisville, KY. She worked many years as an executive secretary at the Louisville Courier-Journal and later was private secretary to Edith Bingham. She ended her career working for the Scottish Rite. Dottie was full of energy, wit, faith, kindness and was sometimes feisty. She loved her family and friends, most especially the Aloha group in her later years. She loved to travel and was known as the “family tour guide”.
She is survived by her children, Dr. Alice Mitchell, Greenbelt MD, Dr. Carol Mitchell, Lexington, KY and Mark Mitchell (Lorey), Palm Beach Gardens, FL. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Dr. Nick George (Beth), Chris George, Andrea George, David Lappert, Chris Lappert, CJ Reese (Haley), and Jenny Garcia (Mike).
The family wishes to thank the staff of Wesley Village, Wilmore , KY for their years of extraordinary loving care. All of you brought her laughter and joy.
A private funeral Mass will be held December 27th at St. Luke’s Church in Nicholasville, KY. Burial will be at a later date in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains, NJ.
