Doris L Newton

Doris Lorena Newton, 83, of Louisville, Kentucky, daughter of the late Thomas Funk and Dorothy Brown Funk was born February 21, 1942 in Louisville, Kentucky and departed this life on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Baptist Health Louisville Hospital.

Doris was united in marriage to Robert Lee Newton on February 12, 1966. He preceded her in death in March, 2003.

Doris retired from Louisville Convention Center. She enjoyed shopping and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of Gardiner Lane Church of Christ.

Doris is survived by her four children, Mark Hilbert and his wife Sharon of Louisville, Dennis Hilbert and his wife Janet of Bardstown, Gary Newton and his wife Holly of Louisville, Angela Hernandez of Louisville; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; a great great grandchild; brother, James Funk and wife Bonnie of Elizabethtown.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Tomes; sister, Darnella Whitaker; brother, Thomas Funk Jr.

A visitation will be held at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home 4400 Bardstown Road Louisville, Kentucky 40218 on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 from 5PM to 8PM. A funeral service will be on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 in the funeral homes chapel at 12PM. Doris will be laid to rest at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Pastor Robbie Miller will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Michael Cooley, Christopher Funk, Nicholas Funk, Jeffrey Hilbert, Matthew Fair, Abram Fair, Kyle Fowler, and Enrique Hernandez.
