He was my safety net and when do you think someone is the most likely to fall?

Donovan - I am so sorry I was not able to attend the service or the celebration of your life, as I was out of town. I heard you had many good friends, family members, and co-workers that shared many great stories about you. I'm sorry we didn't get a chance to hang out as much these last few years, but I cherish the times we were together (nearly every weekend!) many years ago at The Pour Haus and other times as well. I still have 100s of CDs that you took the time to make for me, simply because you thought I would like the music and although I've never been able to read the handwriting on them (our joke), they mean so much. I promise to give the OOBE kit another try as well. I will miss you, brother, but I will make sure to recall your name and stories whenever the chance arises. See you on the other side - I'm sure LPD will be playing when we meet again - Clint E. Allen

Donovan was a very nice person and will truly be missed.  It will be different this school year without him.  I will miss our conversations.  It has been a pleasure working with him.  I will continue to pray for his family and friends.  

Donovan was such a great friend and objectively wonderful person. He loved music and art and reading, constantly looking for new, interesting, and peculiar finds in all mediums. So much of the music I love today I discovered through or with him. Every time we got together over many years he had something new and great to urgently recommend. Whether music, art, books, films, he always found the best (and often strangest) and I never hesitated to take his recommendations seriously. I have not seen him since the early 2000s and have to wonder what other great things he could have introduced me to. He was so smart, funny, and well read, he was a rare person you could really enjoy having long substantive talks with. He was also by far the funniest person I’ve ever known. No one has ever made me laugh as hard or as often as Dononan (only Aaron comes close!) I worked several terrible jobs with him in the 80s and 90s, and for each of them he found the most ridiculous and creative ways to make even the lousiest workplace hilariously entertaining and unforgettable. There was no better friend to have navigated all the turbulence from kid to adult with. I’m heartbroken, and heartbroken  for his family and everyone lucky enough to have known him. He’s an unforgettable irreplaceable treasure.

Donovan was the kindest, most gentle person with our special needs students at Noe Middle School.
If they were having a bad day, he would always make them smile with either a corny joke or drawing something for them.
He was a bright light in this world, and let's make sure we keep his light shining by doing all of the good things we loved about him.

Donavan  the last time I saw you was just a few weeks ago and you hugged  me so tight. You always did that when you saw me and I guessed that's how you showed your love. When I saw you and Ali both of you gave me a Forever Rose . Thank you Ali and  Donavan  I will hold that Forever Rose high because everytime  I see that Rose it will remind me of you. I love you like a son and you will.be missed in my heart and I'm sure many hearts Forever.  Karen

Hi Mr Donovan thank you for helping me in school and in STLP with Ms Sibert. Thank you for your support. I’m glad I met you and got to know you from Noe Middle School. Thanks for the drawings that you made. Your drawings were really good. I liked your art and I liked your funny jokes. I miss you and I’m glad your not in pain anymore. I’m glad your not suffering pain anymore. You are missed.


I have worked with Donovan for the past 18 years at Noe. He worked with the special needs children and I taught technology. We felt that technology was a special skill set that special needs kids needed. He was in my classroom every day and I saw how loving he was towards those children. He new more about technology for them than anyone and always strived to make their lives better. I was blessed to have him as a friend and fellow teacher for all of those years. He will be sorely missed, especially by the children.
