Mr. Farmer was born March 21, 1946, to the late Joseph Virgil and Dolly Mae Farmer.
He was a graduate of Shawnee High School.
He was also an Army Veteran with the 173rd Airborne, a retired Louisville Firefighter, and a former EMT for American Synthetic Rubber Company.
Donnie is preceded in death by his siblings, Virgil "Buddy" Farmer Jr. and Ann Carroll Wise.
Left to cherish his memory is his son, Scott Farmer (Jen); siblings, Gayle F. Glass and Mike Farmer (Catherine); companion, Alyce Pace; former wife and friend, Linda Quire and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 9:00 am Thursday at Evergreen Funeral Home with interment to follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, Kentucky.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the compassionate and loving care that Donnie was given from the 4 West Medical Unit of Audubon Hospital, the Enclave of East Louisville and Hosparus of Louisville.
Memorial donations in Donnies' name may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project.
