Donald Edmund Schnell

Donald was a registered architect with AIA since 1958. He served as president of the Western Kentucky Chapter of the AIA/CSI from 1966-67. He was a Principal of the Architectural firm Hartstern Schnell & Associates from 1963-75. President of DRS, Inc. Architects 1976 - present. Donald also was a Korean War veteran serving in the Army 27th Infantry division.

He is preceded in death by his wife; Doris R. Schnell, parents; Bernard and Margaret Schnell.

Donald is survived by his wife; Dorothy Schnell, son; Michael Schnell (Laura), Keith Schnell (Leslie), siblings; Dolly Tate, Jimmy Schnell, Liz Carter (Bill), grandchildren; Diana Schnell-Coots (Joe), Stephanie Schnell, Erica Schnell, Kristina Schnell, Jennifer Schnell, Keith Schnell Jr. Great grandchildren; Chase Schnell, Everett Coots and Brody Trabue. He is also survived by his special friend, Walter the cat.

A Celebration of Life Mass will be conducted 10 am Friday, March 2, 2012 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 5505 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40291 with interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be held 2-8 pm Thursday March 1, 2012 at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven 4400 Bardstown Rd.
