He fought long and hard against his battle with Myelodysplastic Syndrome. He showed tremendous courage and strength during his battle. His pain and suffering are now over.
He is predeceased by his son Johnny Pendleton, his parents, Joseph and Catherine Pendleton and his brother Tom Pendleton.
He is survived by his loving devoted wife of 40 years Carol Dalton Pendleton, his 8 children Mike, David (Rhonda), Jimmy (Jackie), Rhonda Underwood, Laura Lively (Donny), Tammi Tanselle (Scott), Jacki Dever and Merritt Robinson ( Derrick). Along with 17 grandchildren, one great grandson, sister Janet Link (Larry), sister-in-law Bev Pierce, plus nieces and one nephew.
He is a member of St. Rita’s Catholic Church. He had 28 years of service with the Jefferson County Police Department. He came up through the ranks from Detective, Sergeant to Lieutenant and served in all 3 Police Districts, Arson Squad, Youth Bureau, Southfield Training and Crisis Negotiation.
He loved his family with all his heart and that love was equally returned.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Zulfiqar Malik and the staff of Norton Cancer Institute of St. Matthews for their wonderful care, Dad loved the special attention of the entire staff.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to Down Syndrome of Louisville.
His Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Friday at St. Rita Catholic Church, 8709 Preston Hwy followed by burial at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be 2-8 PM Thursday Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home at 8519 Preston Hwy.
