He was born July 25, 1933 on The Point, in Louisville, KY. He referred to himself as a true Dirty Neck Pointer. Don was a proud graduate of Manual High School where he was a member of the band.
He loved to bicker with his 5 grandchildren all who graduated from Male High School. After graduation he entered the Air Force and worked for LGE and MSD until retirement.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Lou Phillips, his parents LeRoy Graves and Helen Kope and his brothers, Jackie and Kenny Graves.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Schell Graves, children Helen Arend ( Daryl) and George Graves (Tammy) Brother, Bobby Graves, Grandchildren Amber Voelker ( Michael), Joshua Arend ( Jenna), Emily Biesecker (John), Madison Graves and Mason Graves, great grandchildren, Ava Williams, Alex and Ben Arend and Greyson Biesecker, brother. In law Lee Schell (Theresa), sisters in law Theresa Schell(Windell), Lisa Schell- Harris (Bob), mother in law Ruth Schell and father in law Leon Schell, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and his loving companions, his dogs, Jazzie and Digger.
A funeral service will be conducted at 12pm on Thursday, December 9, 2021 in the Chapel of Arch L Heady-Cralle Funeral Home, 2428 Frankfort Ave. Louisville, KY 40206 with interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Guests are invited to attend a visitation from 2 – 8pm on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 and after 10am the day of the service.
