Don Gordon Ward, 91, passed on March 5, 2022. Born in Glo, KY on October 3, 1930 to Willard Ward and Dorsey Prater Ward. He is a retired Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force. He was an Air Force OSI Special Investigator, and a founding member of the Air Force Sergeants Association. He was also a USAF recruiter for the Ground Observer Corp. After leaving the military, he became a Special Investigator for the U. S. Department of Labor. He was a loving husband who loved to golf, boat, fish, and spend time with his family. He was also an avid UofK fan.
Don is survived by his wife of 66 years, Bette M. Davis Ward, daughters; Donna Owens (Rich), Cindy West (Jerry), Judy Kaelin (Mark), 4 grandchildren; Stacy, Bryan, Mark Jr. (Megan), and Brittany (Chris), 5 great-grandchildren; Devin, Courtney, Abby, Ryan, and Avery. And 1 great-great grandchild Sloane. He is also survived by his sister, Lexine Swiney of Elkhorn City, KY as well as several nieces.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Arvil Ward.
A service to celebrate Don’s life will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 13, 2022 at Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Rd. Military honors and flag presentation will take place at the conclusion of the service. Visitation will be from 12-3PM on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will take place privately with the family on March 29, 2022 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliff, KY.
