David Peters Jr., 96, passed away on Friday, October 15, 2021. David was born August 5, 1925 in Louisville, Kentucky. He served with the US Marines in the Pacific during World War II and was with the first troops to enter mainland Japan when the war ended.
After returning to civilian life he became a commercial driver. During his career he amassed many safe driving awards, among which were the driver of the year awards for the years 1975 and 1977 in the Ryder National Safe Driving Program.
After he retired he became active in his Masonic lodges. He was a lifetime member of the Past Masters Society of Central Kentucky, a thirty second degree mason in the Scottish Rite, and a Kosair Shriner.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Barbara Corbett-Peters; children, David "Skip" Peters (Susan), Jeffery Peters, Randy Peters (Sharon); step-children, Mike Corbett (Karen), Tom Corbett (Harriet), Paul Corbett (Carol), Angie Corbett; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Virginia King, Nathaniel Peters (Joyce), Vickie Thoman, Edward Peters (Donna), sister-in-law, Norma Lenenberger; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved fur baby girl, Amber.
The Funeral Mass will be Friday, October 22, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church and the visitation will be Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Evergreen Funeral Home.
