Born in New Albany, Indiana on June 4, 1944.
David was a former long-term resident of Clarksville, Indiana, graduating from Clarksville High School in 1962.
He was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam era and a former member of the Civil Air Patrol.
David was a former member of St. John Presbyterian Church in New Albany, where he had served as a Deacon, an Elder, and member of the Session.
David retired after over 41 years in the computer profession. He was a former employee of the old Dairymen Inc, and was also a former employee of the old National Processing Co. He was later an employee of Funeral Auto and of Evergreen Funeral Home and Cemetery.
Throughout his life, he loved researching his family history, especially his Scottish roots, working around the yard and the house, reading, and spending time with family and his dogs. He loved music, particularly old church hymns and singing in the choir, the sound of the pipe organ, and the emotional music of the bagpipes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John P. Hosier and Mary C. (McRae) Hosier, stepmother Jeannette “Mickey” Hosier, and foster son Tug “JR” Cody Jr.
He is survived by his wife Sandy (Wilson) Bender of Louisville, Kentucky; daughters Catherine E. Rogers (Aaron) of Georgetown, Indiana, and Stephanie S. Scott (Mike) of Naples, Florida; stepson Richard A. Bender (Tammy) of Louisville, Kentucky; sisters Janet R. Willis of New Albany, Indiana, and Paula R. Clapp (Ronnie) of Sellersburg, Indiana; stepsisters Jeannette “Shelly” Akers (Larry) of Clarksville, Indiana, and Gina Oldham of Lynnville, Indiana, and stepbrother Edward Ham (Pam) of New Albany, Indiana. He is also survived by one grandson, four granddaughters, five great-grandchildren, two nieces, five great-nieces, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as his beloved canine companions.
Visitation will be at Evergreen Funeral Home in Louisville, Kentucky on Sunday June 24, 2018 from 2-8 pm and on Monday June 25, 2018 from 10 am-12 pm. Funeral services will be held in the Evergreen chapel at 12 pm on Monday June 25, 2018, with interment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
