GILMER, DAVID B. "BARN," 65, a long time resident of South Louisville peacefully passed from this life on Friday March 12, 2010 at his residence. He was a native of Danville, KY, a member of the Hustonville (KY) Baptist Church, and a charter member of the Kentucky Derby Museum. David was a 1966 graduate of the old Kentucky School of Mortuary Science and was a funeral director and embalmer for the old McDaniel Funeral Home in Highland Park, and a long time funeral director for Arch L. Heady & Son Southern Funeral Home. David loved thoroughbred horses, traveling to the Smoky Mountains, was an avid fan of UK and the "Andy Griffith Show." He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister. He is survived by his wife, Carol; her children, Joyce (Phil) and their children, Nathan, Merideth and Raelee; Melissa (Robert) and their children, Tony and Savannah; his daughter, Jennifer Gilmer Ferro (Ron) and David's grandchildren, Caroline and Graylen; and many friends and colleagues. A service to celebrate David's life will be held at noon Tuesday at the Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3601 Taylor Blvd. with burial to follow in Bethany Memorial Cemetery.
