McDaniel, Curtis L. “Mark”, 82, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2015 at Norton Brownsboro Hospital. Mark was a devoted husband to wife Barbara (Atkinson) for 34 years. For many years he enjoyed a successful career in radio and television news, working in markets that included Chicago, New York, Tucson, Louisville and Lexington. His broadcast career was followed by press secretary and speech writer roles for numerous Kentucky state officials for more than three decades. After his retirement from the state, Mark turned his attention to his writing passion and published two works of fiction, “Horseshoes and Hand Grenades” and “Divorce on Demand.”
Mark will be remembered by those who loved him for his keen intelligence and quick wit. He and Barbara shared a love of musical theater and horse racing (they were married on Derby Eve and attended the Derby for their honeymoon in 1981).
In addition to his wife, survivors include his brother Lonnie McDaniel (Linda); niece, Shannon; nephew, David; he also leaves behind canine and feline “children” whom he adored and cared for with all of his heart.
A private family funeral will be held this week with a celebration of his life being planned for the near future.
To honor his love of all animals great and small, please consider a gift in his memory to the Paris Animal Welfare Society (P.A.W.S.), 6 Legion Rd., Paris, KY 40361.
