Connie (Lewis) Kelty, 57, died peacefully on Tuesday August 1, 2017. She was a native of Louisville, born to the late Samuel L. and Martha D. (Walters) Lewis. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Elizabeth Spies and Rebecca Sauer and a niece, Martha Jean Logsdon. Connie spent some of her early years in Hart County and attended high school there. Returning to Louisville she became interested in politics and worked in the building department at City Hall. She was a past president of the Harry S. Truman Democratic Club. She married and served as an Army wife giving up her own career. She worked for the Department of Defense schools in Panama and substituted regularly for the Killeen High School where she was loved by all. Coming back to Louisville she became nursing coordinator for St. Anthony Hospital before becoming disabled herself. She also cared for ailing parents and was a homemaker. She listened to and cared for all. Her biggest fault was her best virtue. She was always very forgiving. Connie is survived by her husband of 32 years, Daniel J. Kelty; a brother, Edwin Dale Lewis and several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to her special friend Donna Carter, who was like a sister to her and helped with her care. Visitation for Connie will be held from 2-8 pm on Friday at the Southern Home of Arch L. Heady & Son, 3601 Taylor Blvd. A funeral mass of celebration will be held at 10 am Saturday August 5, 2017 at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 639 So. Shelby St. at E. Gray Street, with interment to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to her church’s organ restoration fund.
