Born in Seoul, South Korea, on May 2, 1950, Chong Suk exemplified strength and compassion throughout her life. Her journey from Seoul to the United States marked a chapter of perseverance and dedication, creating a legacy of unity and care within her family.
Her life reflected a deep commitment to her loved ones. As a wife, mother, and grandmother, Chong Suk provided guidance and nurturing that profoundly shaped her family. Her kindness reached beyond her family circle, touching all who knew her. Her ability to connect, her genuine interest in others, and her readiness to support friends and community members were hallmarks of her character.
With her husband, Chong Suk owned "Koreana," a beloved Korean restaurant, for over two decades. This establishment was not just a business but a reflection of her passion for sharing her cultural heritage and bringing people together over meals that were prepared with care and love.
She leaves behind a loving family: her husband of over 20 years, Wi Yi; children, Charles Park (Kristy), Dr. Cassie Wence (Jeff), and Kumhee Yi; and grandsons, Landon and Riley Wence. Her sister, Hyun Ja Bernard, niece Dr. Michelle Carman (Tony), and nephews John Bernard and Michael Bernard (Kayla) will fondly remember her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Yong Ok Kim and Kyong An Kim, and her sister, Chong Nim Kim.
Join us in honoring Chong Suk's life during a visitation at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven on Thursday, March 28, 2024, from 12 pm to 2 pm, with a funeral service to follow at 2 pm. We gather to celebrate her enduring spirit and the meaningful impact she had on our lives.
