Charlie, thanks for teaching me so many things about music and how to be a great personality. I played sax with Charlie in a four piece dance band starting in 1951 and for about 7 years thereafter.   Over the next 60 years or longer we played with one another ever so often...just enough to renew our friendship and have a great time.  Being somewhat younger when I started than the other band members, I was introduced to many of the older songs....great songs....which I still cherish.  For those not familiar with Charlie's talents, he was also a great imitator of some of the old Ink Spot songs, like We Three, I'll Never Smile Again, and If I Didn't Care, and always got a big hand from the audience or crowd at the clubs we played at.
My sincere sympathy to the surviving members of Charlie's family.  I also have fond memories of Charlies daughter, Charlene, when she was growing up.  I also remember when Charlie was a superb women's shoe salesman at the old Selman's...an upscale department store.
As I am the last surviving member of our original group playing at Highway Seven Club in the early 50s, I guess you will now be playing with the other guys in our group, and someday we will all be together once again.

So sorry to hear about your loss.  Charlie will be missed by many.  My sympathies and prayers to all family and friends.

Pappaw, you will never know how much you mean to not only me but to everyone. You were simply, one of a kind. You're a good man with a kind heart and you always had something witty to say. 

You're amazing, my best friend, and this has truly hurt my heart. I'm going to miss you, so very, so very much. Heaven gained an angel, a very unique angel, and I know you're up there, with aunt cissy, tap dancing and being silly. I'm sure you're the happiest man right now, and I can say, you are in a better place and I  find solace knowing, that your heart is no longer breaking. That doesn't make the hurt go away, but my soul is soothed just knowing your happy. 

I will always, always, always, love you. And will miss you so much. Thank you Pappaw, for being there for me. My promise to you, is that I will take care of grandma. She will be in good hands. And I know that you know that.

Betty ,Lyle and I are so sorry to hear about Charlie. He will be missed. I'm sure he'll be playing the call to the post in Heaven come Derby Day. All our love and sympathy. May God bless and keep you in your time of sorrow.

Well we did not get the honor of meeting Mr.Tomlinson(papa).But from what we heard about him from Stephanie,Kevin,Trent and Taegan he was a sweet and wonderful man. Celebrating a life well lived. You will cherish his memories forever. Prayers to all the family.
