He was born on August 18, 1939, in Owensboro, KY.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Hazel Phillips, and his brothers, Eddie Phillips and Larry Phillips.
Charles' daughters, Paula Pierce and Angie Vittitow along with her husband Kevin, and his grandchildren, Stephanie and Brandon Huff, Josh Pierce, and Luke and Abigail Vittitow, were all the absolute joy of his life. His great-grandchildren, Layla and Ethan Huff, brought him immense happiness. Being a Papaw was Charlie's greatest joy, and he loved his cat, Miss Kitty.
He spent his working years at Sysco Foods. A man of simple pleasures, Charlie was a fan of the University of Kentucky and would secretly root for the University of Louisville as long as they were not playing each other. He loved a good Western and spent many afternoons reliving the adventures of the Old West through the eyes of his heroes.
Funeral services will be held Friday August 2, 2024.
