Charles Edwin Mitchell Jr.

Charles Edwin Mitchell Jr., 76, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2017. He was born in Jefferson County, KY to the late Charles and Katherine Mitchell Sr. Charlie stayed very active in his community. He was a Kentucky Colonel, former Okolona Optimist President, Okolona Little League Board of Directors and Softball Coach, Vice President of CWA for Kentucky and Tennessee, Telephone Pioneer of Kentucky member and an Avid U of L Fan, especially Women’s basketball. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of over fifty years, Carole “Sue” Hayden Mitchell; children, Carie Buckman(Matt), Tina Mitchell(Eric Jensen), Chuck Mitchell(Sandi),Tony Mitchell, and Kate Jones(Jeff); eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren; Siblings, Ken Mitchell(Carol), Sharon Smith, Margie McKinley and a host of many other family members and friends. A funeral Mass to celebrate the life of Charlie will be held Monday, July 17, 2017 at 12pm at St. Rita Catholic Church, 8709 Preston Hwy. Louisville, KY 40219 with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-8pm at Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home in Okolona; 8519 Preston Hwy Louisville, KY 40219.
