He was a retired dispatcher for JH Ball Moving and Storage, an Army veteran of the Vietnam era, and an avid UK fan.
Charley was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Bader; a brother Larry McCarty, and his mother Edna Mae Fanton McCarty. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Linda Gallahue McCarty; sons, Chris McCarty (Mendy) and Travis McCarty (Courtney); siblings Ronald, Phillip, Glen, Pat, John, Beverly, Deborah, and Joyce; and grandchildren Kelsy, Alyssa, Cody, Jacob, Destiny, and Kali.
His funeral service will be held at 9:30 am Thursday at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, followed by burial at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central. Visitation will be from12-8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
