He was a retired brick mason with River City Development and had served his county in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Charles was a member of the Louisville Church of Christ and AARP.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ethel Elker; and a brother, Wayne Elker.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Janet Fentress Elker; sons, Brian (Lorraine) and Jason Elker (fiancée, Jessica); stepsons, Mark (Erin) and Sean (Susan) Rademaker; sisters, Helen King (Lee) and Melva King (Gene); five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
His Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Chapel, 4400 Bardstown Road, with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association or Kosair Children Hospital or Hosparus.
