Charles “Charlie” Louis McAdams, loving husband, father, and grandfather died on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at home. Charlie was born December 15, 1944, graduating from Pleasure Ridge Park High School in 1963. He served the United States Army honorably from 1965 to 1967. In the Army he learned to value knowledge and see his gift for teaching others. He graduated from Western Kentucky University in 1971.
On June 14, 1968, he married the love of his life, Vivian Stewart. He and Vivian were married for 53 years and proudly raised two sons. He credited Vivian with all of his best accomplishments, knowing how lucky he was to have her by his side.
Charlie was a gregarious and gifted teacher, teaching for over 30 years for Jefferson County Public Schools, most of those years at Seneca High School. He never tired of meeting his former students out and about, remembering anecdotes about each one.
Charlie loved teenagers, jokes, puns and telling stories. He had an encyclopedic knowledge of baseball, music, the civil war, birds and many other topics. He would quiz you on facts and anecdotes, sometimes to the groans of his family.
Charlie never met a stranger. He would regale strangers with his tall tales and brag about his beloved grandchildren. He was a sportsman, coaching nearly every high school sport at one time or another.
He is survived by his wife, Vivian McAdams; two sons Jeff McAdams and Charles Brian McAdams (Angie Elleman); and two grandchildren, Grace McAdams and Davidson McAdams. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, friends and former students who will never forget his love for imparting knowledge and humor.
