He was born January 22, 1928 in Oak Park, IL, the son of the late Carl H. and Lillian Antonie (Storm) Larson, Sr.
Carl served 3 years in the United States Navy. He attended Southern Illinois University on the GI Bill after departing the Navy. After graduation, Carl married and worked for several companies in Chicago before landing a job with the Hotpoint division of GE in November 1955. In 1968 he moved his family to Louisville when he transferred to GE’s Appliance Park. Carl retired from GE Appliances as a Production Planner 34 years later in November 1989.
In his retirement years he enjoyed woodworking, making handcrafted wooden toys with the Kyana Woodcrafters Club for The Salvation Army for Christmas, and volunteering with Meals on Wheels and Habitat for Humanity. Carl also enjoyed going on cruises and ballroom dancing.
He was a Kentucky Colonel, a member of Christ Church United Methodist, American Legion Zachary Taylor Post 180, Elmhurst Illinois Masonic Lodge #941 and the Kyana Woodcrafters Club.
Left to cherish his memory are his three children, Glenn C. Larson, Janet L. Graham (Byron) and Douglas W. Larson; two grandsons, Jesse C. Graham and Joshua S. Graham; and his late-life love, Fern Ogles.
In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Gale Larson and one sister, Roberta V. Davidsen Utley.
Carl’s family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the companions and staff at Treyton Oak Towers who cared for him while he was living there.
A service to celebrate Carl’s life will be conducted at 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 9, 2023 in the Chapel of Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Rd. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM on Friday, September 8, 2023 at the funeral home.
