Carl C. Edwards

Carl C Edwards Jr, 93, passed away peacefully on Tuesday November 8, 2022. Carl was born in Milledgeville, GA to Carl and Ester (Ivie) Edwards. He was a star running back and won a scholarship to play with the Georgia Bulldogs. Carl entered the Marines and served bravely in the Korean War and was one of the chosen few survivors of the Reservoir Battle. Carl met Vicki, the love of his life, on a blind date while on leave and they married in 1951. Carl settled and started a family in Chicago, IL.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Vicki Edwards (Skupien).

Left to cherish his memory is his son, Richard Edwards (Lorri); his daughters, Judy Solomon (John) and Lisa Anderson (Bruce); grandsons, Phil Solomon (Jackie), Steve Solomon (Tanya), Kevin Solomon (Carole), Garrett Anderson; granddaughters, Kelly Barash (Ben), Jamie Edwards (Tim), Erin Anderson; great grandsons, Aaron and Ethan; great granddaughters, Cadence, Lyla, Aubrey.

Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to the Okolona VFW Post 8639 and/or Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

A special thanks to our family of caregivers, “Carl’s Angels” for the last 6 years, Damion, Jackie, Sherry, Sherri and Chad. Also, Jennifer and all of the special caregivers at Louisville East. We are forever grateful for your support and care.

Visitation will be Monday, November 14, 2022 from 2pm-8pm at Arch L Heady Funeral Home – Okolona. The Funeral Service will be Tuesday 11:30am at Arch L Heady Funeral Home – Okolona with burial following in Evergreen Cemetery.
