Brenda Jean Davis, 82, of Louisville, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2024 in her home with her loving family nearby. Born on July 26, 1941 in Louisville, she was the only daughter of the late Jessie and Lois Harrison.
Brenda Davis was a devoted wife to the late James M. Davis, and we take great solace in knowing she has finally joined her “Petey” in heaven. She was an amazing, fun, spectacular mother to Jeffrey Davis (Bev Henry) and Amanda Wolz (Dane), and grandmother to Maggie and Grace Wolz, Stefan Young (Ibo) and Kiel Henry; great-granddaughter Diana. She was a loving sister to three brothers, Larry Harrison (Carol), Bruce Harrison (the late Ann), and the late Michael Harrison (Beth).
She will be remembered for her smile that would light up a room, her fireside chats with all the neighborhood kids, her delight in “Murder, She Wrote” and any true crime drama, and the ability to cook anything (sometimes with a little extra paprika). Brenda loved to give a good hug to those that needed it. Often her kids would say they’d been “over hugged” in childhood, but we will miss those hugs oh so much now.
A newspaper delivery agent for over 30 years, Brenda worked every day, 365 days a year, until she retired. She was passionate about reading, sometimes checking out up to 28 books a month from the library, and she’d finish them all. She shared that passion with her daughter, Amanda, and her two granddaughters, along with a love for all things Christmas. She was known to keep her Christmas trees up all year long some years. This strong, quirky woman will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 26 at 10 am at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, with private entombment in Resthaven Memorial Park. A meal will be served at St Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church immediately after the service. Visitation will be from 4 pm to 7:30 pm on Monday, March 25th. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church.
