She was predeceased by her parents, Clay Cornelius and Gladys Gibson Cornelius, and her stepmother and friend, Doris Cornelius.
Brenda was a scholar and an educator. She attended Southern High School, where she graduated 3rd in a class of 300 students. She received her Masters Degree in Education from University of Louisville where she received honors for scholastic excellence.
Brenda taught for Jefferson County Public Schools, where she modeled her love of learning and left her imprint on many young minds. With her certification in remedial reading, she helped struggling students learn to read. She retired after a 27 year career.
She was adept at needlecraft and she loved dining out with family and friends. Quiet and kind, and stronger than she knew, she was a woman of faith who attended countless bible studies in her lifetime. Brenda was a member of West Broadway Baptist Church.
Left to cherish Brenda's memory are her sister and brother-in-law, Paula and Hardin Price; her friends Carol and Steve Linton, Darla Moore, and Tina Trees; and her beloved cat, Lacey.
In lieu of flowers donations in Brenda's honor can be made to Hosparus Health, Kidney Cancer Association, or West Broadway Baptist Church.
A service in Brenda's honor will be held at Resthaven Memorial Park at a later date.
