Bonnie Rene Marcum of Jeffersontown KY., passed into eternal life on April 24, 2016 in the loving presence of her family. Our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Sister had long instilled the cherished tradition of Sunday Dinners in her home and we are fortunate to have shared a final afternoon of family with our Angel on this earth, with full knowledge that we will share them again with her in the future. Her family feels sorrow now but will rejoice when we see her again.
Born December 28, 1922 in Wetumpka, Alabama to Joel Henry and Minnie Lee “Granny” White her gift was to help and serve others as a beautiful steward of God’s grace. She faithfully served her family as a loving wife, mother, and sister with nurturing love, humility and a gentleness that spread joy to all she touched. Our lives have been shaped by her tireless Christian example.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband Charles R. Marcum whom she married in 1944 while he served during WWII. Also among those who welcomed her to God’s kingdom are seven brothers and sisters who have gone before her. Bonnie is survived by her children; Sandy Smithers (Larry), Rob Marcum, Carla Deddens (Phil), Todd Marcum (Caroline), her sister Bobbie Sanford and brother Frank White. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren; Charlie Marcum (Amy), Clay Masters (Sandra), Cory Masters (Lisa), Errin Allen (Richard), Megan Wallace, Whitney Holofchak (Justin), Weston Marcum (Mary Margaret), Travis Marcum, Allie Marcum, Anna Marcum, Kelly Marcum and 21 great grandchildren.
The family is deeply grateful to the caregivers who became part of our extended family over the past several years. Your comfort, love, support and exceptional kindness toward Bonnie will never be forgotten.
A Funeral Service will be held 2pm Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, with interment to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.
