He wanted to be a good golfer and always inspired younger players. Like his brother Charlie, "never say a bad word" and inspired others no matter their handicap. The world hes lost a good man. He always seemed to know more than he'd let on.

Dear Martie, Sandy and Diane, the whole Hauss family is thinking and praying for you. What a wonderful man Bobby was, thank you for sharing him with us. What great memories we carry from the old Cross Creek Blvd days- the red VW convertable- Nolin Lake- the swim club- and garage parties. Bobby was such a good neighbor to Mom and Dad. We consider Bobby and Martie to be our best friends.   Bobby and I go way back.   I have a copy of the Clark Broadcaster  from Geo. Rogers Clark Elementary School dated  June 1942, and Bobby and I were listed among the "6A Graduates"!  Under "What the 6As Want To Be"  column,  Bobby  listed "Airplane Pilot".   The entry under my name was "Aviator".  Neither of  us made the grade in that field!

We both attended Barret Jr High and Manual together, and played in the school bands.  Bobby was a good clarinet player (like his older brother), and I played  4th trombone.  I would have been 5th trombone, but they only had 4! 
 We had a neighborhood football team, and he was  number 61 and I was number 16.  He was still better!.
Bobby had a great sense of humor.   I treasure a brown glass eye Bobby once  gave me, and I still occasionally use it to spread humor and horror among those I come in contact with.

We visited Bobby and Martie in Ft. Myers a year or so, and were truly impressed with the cheerfulness and dignity with which he bore his failing health.  We  have kept in pretty close touch over the years, but typically, not as close as we would have liked.

Our prayers are with Martie and the family at this difficult time. We all miss him.    Jerry and Marietta Smith
