He was born in Murray, KY in 1941. He was preceded in death by his parents, Adon Owen Williams and Anne Henslee Bucy, and a son, Mark Adon Williams.
Billy attended Highland Park High School in Highland Park, MI, and graduated from Murray State University in 1963. He served two years in the U.S. Army as a Tank Company Commander. After discharge, he went to work for General Electric Co. in Schenectady, NY in its Advertising and Sales Promotion Training Program. He was transferred to Louisville, where he later joined T. Jefferson Wright Advertising Agency as a copywriter and Creative Director. In 1972, he joined Hillerich and Bradsby Co. as Advertising Manager. He was later promoted to Vice President-Advertising and Public Relations. Billy retired from H&B in 2003, and also served as Executive Director of The Louisville Slugger Museum the last eight years of his career.
During his retirement, Billy volunteered with the Louisville Visitor and Convention Bureau for numerous events and also at the Main Visitor Center and the Main Street Visitor Center.
He is survived by his wife, Sedonia “Donna” Cruise Williams; daughter, Lee Anne Murphy (Dan); son, David Brinn Williams (Megan); and a step-son, Jeffrey Leep (Mary); two granddaughters, Brinn and Lilah and three step-granddaughters, Lauren, Emma and Kristin Leep; his brothers and sister, Tim Bucy, Bettelu Laduke and Ted Bucy.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 24, 2015 in the chapel of Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Rd. Visitation will be from 3-8 PM on Friday at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Resthaven Memorial Park.
