Bertha L. Perkins, 81, of Louisville, passed away at her home on the evening of October 5, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. She was a Christian by faith and a Kentucky Colonel, and had retired from Brown and Williamson. She loved flowers, working puzzles, collecting Kentucky quarters and to love on her animals.
Her children said that when she cooked for them it was with all of her heart and soul, and thats why her food tasted so wonderful. She loved having everyone so close and enjoyed the fun they shared, as her love for them was unconditional.
Preceding her in death was her husband of 29 years, Calvin Perkins; son, Randall "Butch" Carlton; and daughter Paula Bailey.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Lisa (Roger "Moe") Garvin; son, Michael C. Kessinger; eight grandchildren, Bonnie, Debbie, Missy, Stevie, April, Corinna, Dustin and Cody; seven great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
A Life Celebration service for Bertha will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at noon at the Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Chapel, 4400 Bardstown Road, with interment in Resthaven Memorial Park. A gathering of family and friends will be on Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. and Wednesday after 9 a.m. at the funeral home.
Donations be made to Hosparus or the Shamrock Foundation - Arrow Fund in Bertha's memory.
