Barbara Ann Squires

Passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018 peacefully at home with her family, friends and her loving companion “Happy” by her side.

Survivors include two sons; Eddie and Frankie Squires; grandchildren, Mary Beth Squires (Ryan Wilson) and Kenny Squires; daughter-in-law Tracie Squires; cousins, Susan Rogers and Lisa Babb and many loving and caring friends.

Born July 8, 1941 in Sebree, KY, Barbara was preceded in death by her father Carroll E. Wilson, mother Lois E. Melton and step-mother Ovella Patterson. She attended Manual High School ’59 and regularly visited Southeast Christian Church (SW).

Barbara retired from JCPS after working many years at Western, Fairdale and PRP High Schools, “Once a Panther Always a Panther”. She is a “True Advocate for Children” a PTA volunteer over 50 years, giving much time to the Red Cross and the Metro United Way. Barbara was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Purity Chapter #116, on Riverside, The Farnsley-Moremen Landing Board and the PRP Alumni Hall of Fame.

Visitation will be 12-8pm, Monday, April 30 at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Highway 40258. Tuesday, May 1, visitation will be 10-11:45am and funeral services at 12:00pm at The Moremen Family Chapel at Riverside, The Farnsley-Moremen Landing, 7410 Moorman Road 40272. A celebration of life lunch will follow at the Visitors Center.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the 15th District PTA or Louisville Hosparus Health.
