He was an evangelist for South End Church of Christ. Many people were assisted by his work with homeless. Antonio had also been a minister in Dallas where he worked as a gang specialist.
Mr. Montanez was preceded in rest by his son, Antonio Montanez II; and his father, Abelardo Montanez, Sr.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Teresa Montanez; four children, Amanda, Abel and Abigail Montanez, Dari Moreno and Mark Garcia; grandchildren, Mila Montanez, Luis, Grace, Jacob and Rachel Aguillon; his mother, Aurora Montanez; a brother, Abelardo Montanez, Jr.; and a sister, Rita Clausen.
Cremation was chosen.
His memorial service will be on Tuesday, October 19th, at 2pm at the Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Highway. Visitation will be from 1pm until the time of service.
