Although we will miss her with all our hearts, we are so very thankful for all the love and joy she brought to us. With her 45 year career at Reynolds Metals she taught us the importance of hard work and perseverance which culminated to her being elected to Secretary/Treasurer of the United Steelworkers Local 155 union where she remained until she retired. Her love of travel gave us all many wonderful experiences as we accompanied her on so many great adventures and instilled the need to stop and admire the beauty of a sunset on the beach. As a strong believer in higher education she earned her degree at the University of Louisville while working a full time job. She encouraged everyone to continue their education and fulfill their dreams. She was a long time member of the Beechmont Woman’s Club where she also served as past President.
She is predeceased by her loving husband, Joe Edward Douglas, Sr., son, Joe Edward Douglas, Jr., sisters, Frances Quire and Pat Brumback and a brother Robert Yount. Left to cherish her memory are siblings, Milton Yount, and Arlene Wisdom, daughter, Bonita Douglas, granddaughters Kimberly (Mark) Rose, Kelly (Kevin) Ray, Courtney Hostetler (Paul Donlon), eight great- grandchildren, one great-great grandson and niece, Angie (Phil) Tocco. We love you with all our hearts! Thank you for all of the life lessons, travel, laughs, and above all Love.
Visitation will be 2-6pm on Thursday, June 17th at Arch L Heady & Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Rd, Louisville, KY 40222 with Celebration of Life following at 6 pm.
